Spedino Mouse Push Toy (by Selecta)

By Mom Unplugged, May 16, 2007 1:24 pm

This little mouse is so cute! Little ones push him along by his long handle and he rocks back and forth with tinkling bell and twitching whiskers. He is also very sturdy. Ours is still going strong after about four years of use (not always for the intended purpose) and abuse. I just love the whiskers!!

Four In A Row (Tin Game by Haba)

By Mom Unplugged, May 2, 2007 3:43 pm

The object of this classic game is to get four in a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. This tiny version comes in a little 4″ x 5.5″ tin that is ideal for travel or a stocking stuffer.

I generally prefer travel toys with very few small pieces, so all these little balls could be a car or airplane disaster. I only recommend this as a travel toy for children old enough to manage the balls without spills (also not good around babies). But for older kids, or even adults, this is a great game!

Wooden Mouse Family Stacking/Pull Toy

By Mom Unplugged, April 1, 2007 3:08 pm

I bought this for my youngest daughter’s first birthday and it is totally cute! This functions as a dual purpose toy. Little ones can stack and unstack the cheerful mouse family, then they can take the mouse family for a ride!

My baby likes to take apart the mice, but she hasn’t reached the stacking or pulling stage yet. The mouse family is another of those toys that seems like it will last forever. Solidly made of wood by French manufacturer Boikido.

You can buy it here, or Google “Boikido mouse family toy” to find other stores.

Emma & Ernest Moody Bear

By Mom Unplugged, March 11, 2007 6:22 pm

These little wooden bear puzzles come in three parts: pants, tops, and 6 faces, each expressing a different feeling.

There is no wrong way to do these puzzles. Kids can mix and match outfits and faces. Teaches fine motor skills as well as recognition of different emotions.

All pieces store inside a wooden box. The lid of the box is the puzzle outline. Choose “Emma” or “Ernest.”

Quiet Kitchen Set!

By Mom Unplugged, March 1, 2007 11:17 am

How about a simple little wooden kitchen set for your budding chef? It can be hard to find quiet versions that allow the child to imagine the sounds.

We have an earlier version of the single stove unit (see below), and it has lasted about four years now with no mishaps.

This one photo seems nice because it has the stove and sink for not that much more than the stove alone. There is also a refrigerator available too. I wish my appliances were this pretty!
